Moving Past Fear

There are so many ways to move past fear, and so very many levels of fear.

If a low level of fear is keeping you from doing something that you know is right for you, that you know in your heart you should do, consider this technique shown to me by Spirit this week:

Imagine the scenario that gives rise to the fear in you.  Imagine it unfolding in the manner that you most fear.

Now repeat, repeat, repeat.  Repeat until you imagine it unfolding in a manner that doesn’t bother you–or, even better, it unfolds in a manner to which you respond positively.

Skin Oil

My skin oil is becoming a thing on its own, though I’ve mentioned it in my skincare and bites-and-stings posts.

This, though, is the thorough low-down on my combo.

SkinOilIngredientsIngredients

I purchase both ingredients from Mountain Rose Herbs:
Organic Hazelnut Oil
Helichrysum Essential Oil

Recipe

My base recipe is one ounce bottles [that’s about 30 mL] with 20-25 drops [that’s around 1 mL] of helichrysum and the remainder organic hazelnut oil.  Here are some other breakdowns of that recipe:

4 oz. bottle of hazelnut oil + 4 mL of helichrysum essential oil [if you wanted to make a large batch and then dole it out from there]

5 mL roller bottle starts with 6 drops of helichrysum then top it off with hazelnut oil

10 mL roller bottle starts with 7-8 drops of helichrysum then filled with hazelnut oil

Bottles

SkinOilSetBagI originally made this recipe for my skincare regimen–it’s amazing at reducing blemishes and creating more radiant skin.  So, I always make the one-ounce bottles for the bathroom.  I have used both spritzer and pump styles, though always amber glass, and I typically get mine from Specialty Bottle.

Once I realized the usefulness of the oil, though, I began carrying it with me in a small amber glass roller bottle with stainless steel roller which I bought via Amazon Smile [I support Homeopaths without Borders with my purchases; who do you support?], though I see that Specialty Bottle is now carrying clear glass rollers with plastic rollers.  You can get them in lots of different sizes and other colors via Amazon, too.

Uses

I use it on just about any surface ailment, and almost always with at least some benefit.  The most profound benefits have been on blemishes, spider bite, mild scratches, and other people report benefits from other skin ailments too–especially the mysterious ones!

Emotion Code

I was introduced to the Emotion Code by Sandra Seaman who migrated from homeopathy to Body Code, the more advanced professional method of the Emotion Code.  As impressive as homeopathy had been, Body Code was even more impressive to her because it seems to fly through layer upon layer very quickly.  As I am assisting her with her clients’ homeopathic needs now, I decided to get the Emotion Code book so that I could understand the method and how homeopathy might fit in with it.

The developer of the Emotion Code and Body Code has an interesting story himself.  Long story short, as a child he was cured of an ailment for which conventional medicine had left his family little hope.  Emotion Code is basically an outcome of that and, likely, his chiropractic training.

The essence of the Emotion Code is that if you can identify an [unresolved] emotion–and, ideally, its origin, where it has lodged itself to weaken your body, etc., you can clear the emotion.  The book includes methods for muscle testing to identify all of these aspects.  Intuition works, too!

Running the Governing Meridian with Magnetic Hematite
Running the Governing Meridian with Magnetic Hematite

Then, to clear the emotion, a magnet is run three times with just that intention down the Governing Meridian, which runs from about the mouth in a straight line up over the head and down the spine to the coccyx [tailbone].  Actually, his method is a little different but of the same essence.

Update:   Now, I clear using either my hands or a Vogel crystal.  I always start with prayer and run the meridian 10-12 times.  When I begin, I state the emotion/issue I am clearing, and  I say, “throughout space and time for all involved: all generations, all lifetimes.”

I use a handful of magnetic hematite to run the meridian.  I have found that some emotions require more than three run times.  And of course sometimes an ailment has more than one emotion attached to it.

The Body Code goes far beyond the Emotion Code in ways that I have not experienced nor do I fully know, but Sandra does, if you want to contact her!

Meanwhile, I see three highly beneficial uses even simply for the Emotion Code at home:

1.  When you’re in the midst of an emotion that is not serving you, clear it!  Not only does this bring you relief, it also prevents the emotion from staying with you unnecessarily.  Of course, you’ll still want to keep any lessons from your experiences, but anything that is not serving you can be cleared quickly and easily.  [I now am keeping a handful of magnetic hematite in my purse.]

As you know, I’m especially eager to teach children methods of maintaining health and connection to their higher purpose, and this is a very easy one to teach your kids.  If they cannot reach to run the full meridian, and they don’t have someone with them, they can run the magnet just over their head.  [Personally, I do that, then either start up again at the base or I drop the magnets down my spine.]

2.  Treat yourself when you know an emotion is at the root of an ailment.  We’ve tried it at home on ourselves, our cat.  The strongest factor I’ve noticed in using this at home is that if there is a dynamic which in homeopathy would be called an obstacle to cure, the Emotion Code treatment will help only temporarily.  And, just like in homeopathy–and life–if there are underlying causes, such as unhealthy habits, the Emotion Code clearing won’t ‘stick’ unless those unhealthy habits are removed.  So while you’re removing, remove the source of the unhealthy habits!

Homeopathy also can help with maintaining that support to your vital force, of course, and we can always ask for Divine help in overcoming any obstacle–we just have to follow the advice when it comes to us!

3.  The Emotion Code method can be useful for identifying the underlying issues that will help your homeopath or other practitioner help you resolve the health issue with which you are concerned.

Here’s to your health, and one more tool to achieving it in fullness …

The Quick Six: Bites and Stings

The final bit of your Quick Six ensemble would be something to address bites and stings, which in fact is what brought my family to homeopathy in the first place.

The Remedies:

The most frequently recommended remedies for bites and stings are as follows:

Arnica – especially if there is bruising
Apis – especially for bee stings
Hypericum – especially when there is nerve pain
Ledum – for puncture wounds including bites and stings

Once again, I’d suggest remedies in the 6c – 200c range.  You can order a combination from Helios, make a combination yourself [see below], or pick the one you feel you’re most likely to need and use that.  If you are going to do the latter, consider that both Arnica and Hypericum would be in your Cuts & Bumps / First Aid vial or spray.

Because I carry only Arnica [200c or 1M] on occasions when I can’t carry a lot, I had only that with me when my husband was stung on his palm by something mysterious in the ocean.  It helped for a few hours, but after washing the dishes that evening, he started experiencing pain shooting up his arm.  I recalled that pain moving up the nerve toward the heart is dangerous, so I urged him to go to the Emergency Room.  He was reluctant, so I pulled out some Hypericum 1M and dissolved it in a small glass of water for him.  After the first dose, the pain withdrew and localized again.  He took another dose during the night, and again another dose in the morning, and that was that.  Whew!

How to make a combination yourself:

Put the pillules that you want to include between two spoons and crush them.  Then stir them up, and voila, you’ve made a combination.

Use it topically:

Don’t forget that you can use this topically too.  Here’s a reminder on how to make a topical out of remedy pillules.  In fact, it was an inspired topical application of Arnica 200c to a massive mosquito bite reaction that taught me the wonders of topical homeopathics in potency.

Non-homeopathic options:

Plumeria:  If you are someplace where Plumeria grow, you can break-off a Plumeria leaf and apply the milk to the site as quickly as possible.  This works quickly and effectively, much to my surprise and relief!

Helichrysum Essential Oil:  I recently was stung by a spider [this kind].  It stung me quickly while running away, luckily, but it was hurting by nightfall.  I decided to apply some of my face oil [hazelnut oil with helichrysum in it] to it, and I was surprised that the spreading redness and pain had diminished by morning.  One more application in the morning, and voila, it was no longer uncomfortable.   I am pretty sure that I never applied a homeopathic, only the face oil.

Meanwhile, my daughter had 3 mosquito bites [she reacts big time!], one of which was not responding to our treatments [why, we don’t know!], so I decided to go back to my original … Arnica spray, then had the idea to add the face oil on top of it.  Voila, the swelling went down and the itchiness subsided.  I think I applied again that night and maybe again the next day before it was fully resolved.

Tried it again [Arnica spray + Helichrysum in hazelnut oil] on my husband, who caught it immediately after being stung and the results were complete relief immediately.

In looking into it, only Helichrysum [and Arnica, of course] are known to be helpful with bites and stings.

Now I keep some of my face oil in a tiny amber roller bottle in my purse.  I use it for a variety of skin complaints from scratches to stings.

To make a batch for my face oil dispenser, I put one dropperful of the Helichrysum [from a 1/2 oz. bottle] in 1 oz. of hazelnut oil [links above to Mountain Rose Herbs, where I purchase them].  If you buy the tiny roller bottles, I fill them all up and have them on-hand to give away.  People love ’em!

PREVENTION!

Homeopathics:  And finally, preventing mosquito bites.  Mozi-Q has come up with a homeopathic formula that prevents a whole host of bites [lice, ticks, mosquitoes …].  These are low-potency homeopathic combination tablets that you take half an hour before potential exposure and whose effects are expected to last a few hours.  The cool thing about the internal is that you have complete coverage [you can’t miss a spot] that remains through sweat, swim, sunscreen, etc.

Staphysagria is the remedy that prevents mosquito bites [Staphysagria is made from delphinium, and mosquitoes don’t like delphinium].  We have used Staphysagria 6x internally with success, and we also have used it topically for prevention [successfully, though they will find the spots that you miss if you’re in a mosquito rich area].

Other:  I have read and been told that liver tonics / bitters and vitamin B’s [like in nutritional yeast] are good mosquito preventatives.  Constipation also equals a sluggish liver, apparently, so regularity is important!

My Personal Energy Therapist [Can Be Yours Too]

For [less than, most likely] the price of one massage [they cost $7-11 ea. and 2-5 pieces will get you far], you can get a lifetime of relief from all kinds of ailments, from stiff or tight muscles to headaches.  These little gems have proven their worth in our house, much to my amazement and complete delight.

They save me time, they save me money, and they give me relief, comfort, and therein plenty of joy.

Processed with MoldivI just tape or clip [in my hair for a headache] them into place and voila, aaaaaah.

Where to get them:

I have bought my clear quartz crystal spheres from Gemisphere and Starlight.  Other crystal shops also carry them, and they are available via Etsy too.

How to use them:

I generally simply place them at the site of the discomfort or where I think the discomfort originates and where its reach ends.  So, for instance, if my forearm hurt, I might put a couple of crystals at my shoulder and one in the palm of my hand.  On the other hand, for a headache I’d most likely create a circle of spheres around the part of my head that hurts.

I leave them on for 20-30 minutes, sometimes longer.  When they start to irritate, or if I’m headed out the door, I take them off!

Gemisphere states that clear quartz brings life energy and balance to the area where it is placed.  In general, I understand that clear quartz dispels problematic energy and amplifies beneficial energies.

I also use them to clear my chakras.  Gemisphere has instructions for several therapies as well–chakras, metabolism, eyes, and awareness.  They also state that wearing a clear quartz crystal necklace after the therapy can help you hold the healing benefits of the therapy for longer.

How to take care of them:

Healing crystals must be cleared and re-charged.  Gemisphere has a variety of recommendations for clearing and rejuvenating crystals and gemstones.

I actually clear and re-charge mine with each use, though that is not generally considered necessary.

My preferred method is to put them in the sun, because that clears and rejuvenates them nicely.  A direct sun shining through a clear quartz crystal could start a fire, so you have to be careful with that.  Gemisphere recommends only 20 minutes in the sun for that reason.

I set mine in a glass bowl in the sunshine on a windowsill and sometimes take the bowl outside on a nice afternoon.

If we are sunshine-free for a while, I clear them under running water prayerfully until I sense that the spheres are clear [about 30 seconds].  You can also put it in a bentonite clay [detoxifying] bath.

Enjoy!

FYI–Coupon on Therapeutic Gemstones

One of my favorite sources for gemstones, as you know, is Gemisphere.  They have introduced a new, smaller size of sphere [6 mm], and they’re offering $25 off all 6 mm necklaces until tomorrow with the code HELLO6.  Free shipping on all gemstones too.

One of the best deals, and one of the most fundamental gemstone necklaces, in my opinion, is Black Onyx and the smallest one is $45, which means you’d pay $20 for it with the coupon.

Black Onyx is fantastic for grounding, and is therefore really helpful for almost everyone, including kids.

Here’s a quick story about why I fell head-over-heels for this stone:

My daughter was young, and she would cry constantly unless I was in the backseat of the car with her.  I was ready to feel like an adult–to sit in the front seat next to my husband!  So, one day, after a hike, I was inspired [Divinely, no doubt] to request my husband’s onyx necklace.  I placed it over the back of the front passenger headrest, in front of my daughter then hopped into the front passenger seat.

Would you believe that she was perfectly contented up there?

If you are intuitively gifted or have a child who is, this is an amazing stone!  Even having it nearby [say, on you!] is helpful.  I recently gifted one of these necklaces to a mom, and she said her children call it the “magic necklace” because of its properties.

I agree!

Homeopathy for Brain Injuries

Brain injuries seem to be treated, even by many homeopaths, as untreatable and certainly incurable.  I am here to provide some hope, some ideas, some means.

Immediately

The first, best means to address a brain injury homeopathically is to give Arnica immediately afterwards.  If you have kids who play games like soccer, football, hockey, consider giving a dose or two of Arnica 6c or 30c after games involving headers, tackles, and any other hard contact involving the head.  Arnica 6c and 30c typically are readily available at any health food store like Whole Foods, and it deserves a place in every backpack, briefcase, wallet, glove compartment…  Even for ‘small’ injuries, this can help the vital force address the injury to prevent the cumulative effect.

If the injury is significant, the potency should be higher, such as Arnica 200c or 1M [also called MK or 1000c].  That’s why I carry Arnica 200c on my key fob and 1M in my purse.  If a trip to the Emergency Room is necessary, I would take [or give] a higher potency Arnica en route.

I prefer to get the higher potencies of Arnica either in granules or liquid because that makes it eminently easier to dose in an emergency situation.

Astoundingly, after the birth of my daughter, when she was not breathing, the midwives gave me Arnica but never gave it to her!  Typically, a nursing mother would be considered able to pass minute portions of the remedy on to the child, I surely wish they had given her a dose too.  With the immense fright and trauma surrounding the birth, we all would have benefitted from a dose of Aconite 200c as well [shock, fright].  Perhaps if I’d been given that, I wouldn’t have left my body when they took my baby away.

Birth Injuries

The most common homeopathic remedy for a baby who is not breathing at birth [blue babies] is Laurocerasus.  I also wish my daughter had received that at birth.  In fact, our naturopath did bring it to the hospital eventually, but the doctors there did not understand homeopathy and thought it was an herbal preparation, which they determined to be dangerous.

We did eventually bring a Cranial Osteopath to the hospital, and she made a significant difference for our daughter while she was in the NICU.  I also have a friend whose daughter had a significant brain injury due to oxygen deprivation before birth, and she had to call around but the 17th craniosacral practitioner she called did agree to treat her daughter. I went on to do a couple of years of cranial osteopathic manipulation [COM], craniosacral therapy [CST], etc., and though we did not see any significant lasting forward momentum from it, I have since realized how much it helped with the shape of her cranium, palate, airway, etc.  These are significant benefits that we simply did not notice because we were looking at the more typical milestones like sitting independently, talking, walking, etc.

Recovery

So, say you did not use homeopathy to nip the injury in the bud … Then what do you do?

Homeopathy can be of significant help even if you do not use it immediately after the injury.  Here are a few stories of friends that I have helped with homeopathy years after a brain injury …

Absence Seizures, Drowning:  A friend of mine contacted me for help with her son, who was having absence seizures.  She practiced Chinese Medicine but had not been able to help him.  She had taken him to neurologist after neurologist, and their prescriptions also had failed to help her son.  The remedy I suggested was Nat Sulph 6c.  Because I work intuitively, I often can determine the cause of a problem by intuiting the remedy.  That was true in this case, where I inquired as to whether her son had incurred a brain injury or head trauma, because Nat Sulph is known for seizures and other lasting effects of / from brain injuries.

Indeed, her son had drowned and been revived two years prior.  Though she had mentioned that event repeatedly to the neurologists, each one had told her that the near-drowning had no bearing on the absence seizures.

The Nat Sulph made significant improvements in her son’s life.  The absence seizures were significantly shorter when they did occur, and his mood improved dramatically–he was back to his old self, she said.  This is a common report with homeopathic recovery from trauma and music to my ears, because in essence this is what homeopathy is all about for me–bringing us closer to who we really are.  Lifting and unlocking.

So that you understand the process of recovery, the Nat Sulph 6c was probably not the ideal potency but was all that she had available at her local store and ordering from a homeopathic pharmacy was outside her ‘doable’ range at that time.  So, she had to give him the 6c 3-4 times a day.  When she eventually moved up to 30c, the dosing was also a little bit nuanced and more like every 1.5 days, which was tricky as you can imagine!

This is an example of how progress can be made even with a non-ideal potency but that it requires a little bit more effort.  In longer-term recoveries, my suggestion in such situations would be to use what you have available while ordering a more ideal potency from a homeopathic pharmacy.  Or learn how to do energetic dosing, which can be done anytime anywhere that you can get quiet time–this is its pro and its con.  Sometimes taking the pillule is much easier!

Oxygen Deprivation at Birth:  My daughter was born just 3 weeks after her friend, the one I mentioned when discussing CST above.  Her friend’s brain injury was far more significant than our daughter’s–our daughter’s main injury actually came from a severe overdose of a CNS-suppressant that she actually did not need [it was for seizures, which she was not having and the overdose was so significant that it nearly killed her].

Let me make my long stories short.  I am very well aware that the efforts my friend and I have made for our daughters has made a significant difference in their lives.  It is true that they are not “cured” but it is also true that they have far exceeded any expectations that conventional medicine had for them.  My friend’s daughter is almost 10 years old and still doing new things but was given a 3-year life expectancy.

When my daughter was in the hospital, I was told that she would require a permanent G-tube and never be able to eat via her mouth because she had no gag reflex while she was recovering from the overdose, but she left the hospital nursing, which is the most complicated way for a baby to eat.  When she was 10 months old, our PT told us that we should get a gigantic pediatric wheelchair that would totally tuck her in because we would need a “feeding system.”  She also told me to stop carrying her and stop walking with her [my daughter could walk holding our hands].  Well, we never have had a wheelchair and we never will [and that was our last appointment with that PT too].  We did  use strollers on occasion and now my daughter has a walker.

So on a macro level, you can see how homeopathy, nutrition, energy work, craniosacral work, conductive education, and a more hands-on expectant approach has made a significant impact on our children.  Here are some details on homeopathy specifically [someday we hope to write a book together detailing all of it for other parents who want more for their children than what conventional medicine offers]…

Once she left the hospital, my daughter never did take another pharmaceutical excepting a single dose of a reflux medication.  She was 1 y.o. when she started constitutional homeopathic treatment.    Her first homeopathic remedy was made from Ether.  She went from being a passive participant in life to being actively engaged and participating in play, etc.  When she was 3 y.o., she took a remedy made from the CNS suppressant with which she was overdosed.  She rolled-over by herself for the first time the next day, began sleeping through the night [vs. the waking every 5-20 minutes we had endured the previous 3 years], was relieved of chronic intractable constipation, was able to sit independently, and began walking [with help] sua sponte.  When she was 5 y.o., a homeopathic remedy got her crawling–being able to move herself was a significant change for her.  She also began sitting on her knees because that made sitting-crawling easier, but it had the negative side effect of making it easier for her to walk tip-toed and inward than flat- and straight-footed.  We addressed that with both constitutional and topical remedies, and our OT remarked that she usually sees that issue getting worse, not better!  The conventional treatment we were offered, by the way, involved Botox treatments and slicing the tendons then casting the foot/leg in a 90-degree angle.  Homeopathy also has helped her emotionally–to move past separation anxiety, for instance.  And it has helped in subtle ways, with her ability to use her body ever improving.

My friend used homeopathy for her daughter a little bit with the help of the craniosacral therapist in her daughter’s early years.  Mostly she used Conductive Education.  Her daughter was perhaps 7 or 8 years old when she mentioned to me that her daughter was chronically congested and tended to get sick come Fall.  Sometimes, Spirit just hands me a remedy on-the-spot, and that’s what happened then.  Baryta Carb popped into my head.  She started her daughter on Baryta Carb 30c, about one dose per month.  Here’s some of what she noticed from the remedy:  Significantly fewer spasms, ability to sleep longer and with about half the amount of sleep medication at night, more easily contented [able to stay upstairs by herself, for instance], more engagement at school, willingness to eat at school.  She also started a birth trauma resonance, which gave her daughter the ability to fall asleep quickly [rather than the typical hours it took] as well as significantly improved bowel movements and the ability to move her hands in new ways.

So ….

In my experience, homeopathic treatment of the individual can prevent, manage, relieve, and even progressively cure injuries to the brain.  In situations where few conventional options are available, it is especially wonderful to have choices.  Homeopathy can reduce our reliance on pharmaceuticals while improving our overall state because homeopathy treats the individual, and in and of itself that makes it worthwhile to me.  When you add to that the joy with which healing occurs, the improvements made that are otherwise considered impossible and implausible, or the gains made at a speed that astounds, as well as the unlocking of a person’s joy and personality, I surely hope that if you or someone you know suffers from a brain injury, you will consider homeopathy as one option for healing.

A Few Names + Numbers

In our search for healing, we access different healers at different times.  Here are a few who have been helpful to us or whom I hold in high regard,
many of whom can work with people long-distance:

Cymthia Slon is a telepathic intermediary and medical intuitive.  She can understand and relay to you messages from your Spirit Council [your angels and spirit guides].  She works by telephone or in-person in Portland, Oregon.

Kate MacKinnon is a craniosacral therapist in Livermore, California.  She is highly intuitive as well.  She once worked in pediatric physical therapy, so that can be an added bonus sometimes.

Maureen Sacon is a cranial osteopath in Gresham, Oregon.

Paula Eschtruth is one of the first practitioners and teachers of cranial osteopathic manipulation.  She practices in Salem, Oregon.

Joe Badstein is based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina but practices long-distance healing work, too.  At the time we saw him, he worked at a pain clinic and used an ancient healing technique which he’d learned from his grandfather in Hawai’i that was incredibly effective.  He has added to his training since then and practices primarily Kinesiology.

Christine Lischke is an energy therapist who can work by telephone or Skype or in-person in Aloha, Oregon:  503-259-2401

John Melnychuck is a homeopath in Palo Alto, California and can work by telephone or Skype.  John is the homeopath who cured Amy Lansky’s son of autism.

Lou Klein is a homeopath in British Columbia but does travel to teach and offers appointments then as well as treating via Skype or telephone.
